Dear Jonas and List:
Work with your teacher to try and discover a "light" head voice - this will remain connected to your lower range and still have a bit of feeling of the lower voice, but will initially be much lighter. It does feel different than what your teacher called the "mix falsetto". As this upper voice fills out, you will be able to keep your "bass-baritone" sound in an upper range.
Lloyd recently posted some suggestions for exercises to discover and work on this light connected head voice - again, these are best discussed with your teacher.
For me, the "ee" vowel really helps to find a lighter/headier voice without going into falsetto, for the reasons Lloyd very nicely explained. I personally like the lip trills as a warm up and then I go into exercises on the "squeaky" or "creaky" ee.
