Sorry, Diana, I see it was originally your question about vibrato.

Back in the original vocalist, Howard Austin (see
http://borntosing.com/) would frequently comment on vibrato
questions - maybe his site has good exercises.

I think others may be able to suggest various exercises, but I would
emphasize again the idea that before you train your vocal chords
sometimes you need to train your ears. If you hear vibrato in others
and want to produce vibrato in your own voice, that's a big first
step. Of course one can hear the "vibrato" in an operatic soprano,
but I found I often did not perceive vibrato in other voices - I
guess I had something of a perception problem - when a voice has a
natural, free vibrato sometimes the vibrato has a way
of "disappearing" and one only hears the shimmer of the tone.
