Dear Christine et al,
You asked: "What interval DO you use for the Flying Monkey exercise?"
********************************************************************
I know this is apt to frustrate, but the answer is "It depends."
(yeah, another "depends moment":-)). These threads sure have a way of
wandering, don't they?
It depends on what we're trying to accomplish at the time.
It depends on where the student's voice is in its development at the
time.
Sometimes it depends on gender.
Sometimes it depends on vocal category.

With men, It's 1 - 5 - 8 - 5 - 1 or 1 - 8 - 1 (diatonic). With women
or men with wide ranges, 2 octave intervals.

In most cases, I have them do lots of descending sirens before they
try any "Flying Monkey" stuff.
Regards,
Les
