My accompanist played one of these recitals, and she filled the room. The audience was made up largely of people she knew. One might consider the possibility that the singers booked didn't have enough friends and fans to fill the room. Perhaps this is because most pianists and other instrumentalists in the area teach, and teach young people, who come to their teacher's recital, bringing parents and siblings. The libraries' performing spaces are not big, so it doesn't take much audience to fill up the room. Karen, perhaps if you told them the size of your audiences were for your previous recitals, like the recital at the National Theater, and describe how you have publicized your recitals, you could get them to reconsider.
