Correction please:
Swedish "sal" is not "hall;" that would be Sw "hall"
Swedish "sal" means room: and could mean almost
anything from a ball-room, or waiting room to a
slightly formal living room. Since he had lain down
(past perfect, not past progressive), my imagination
paints him on a couch; but that is purely speculative.
