We work on a semester system. They pay for a certain number of lessons up
front. We do not teach them until they've paid. If they have outstanding
balances, we don't teach them until they pay up. They are allowed one
make-up lesson for any reason. After that, it's at the teacher's
descresion. If they are late, oh well. They bought that time period. It's
their problem if they are late. You are running a business. Be clear about
policies up front. Don't let people take advantage of you once. They will
do it again and again. If you mean business and follow through with
consequences, they'll learn.
