Dean, what acid reflux? That's just an idea in the minds of some people that have never even seen your client.

Since you actually know the girl and have quite a lot of experience teaching, I would bet on your guess. Assuming that you are right (and being willing to change that assumption), ask her to sing something and to swallow at many specific places in the piece. Let her also swallow anywhere else she care to. Gradually specify fewer places for her to swallow, and ask that she only swallow at the places you specify.
I'm curious about whether she is able to intentionally produce a complete yawn, and what effect doing so might have on her persistent swallowing.
Does she often swallow while speaking? ...when silent?
