Subject:  Belated thanks + a new hello....

Dear List,

I'd like to thank all of you who responded to my plea for help a few weeks
ago. (insecure note, Mendelssohn duet) The concert was a succes, the darned
note went out okay. Not fabulously, but okay. Which is fine, considering the
troubles I've had with it....

After reading throug a few weeks worth of posts, and (re)acquainting myself
with my fellow lurkers, I'll take the opportunity to re-introduce myself as
well....

So: Hi! My name is Nande, I'm a 30-y.o. dutch soprano of the dramatic
coloratura-kind. Not professional, still quite busy performing in choirs and
since recently as a soloist. I've had some nice opportunities, like singing
duets at the farewell-reception of our last minister of healthcare. (Who was
my boss...)

I've been singing for about my entire life, but started taking lessons three
years ago. At that time, I thought I had a very light voice, just right for
musical theatre. But... as you all probably have experienced, improving
technique worked miracles; I'm now singing all sorts of classical music and
feeling very comfortable doing so. (blowing the neighbours away in the
process....) I take theory-classes (and more) in the evening, so I can get
my degree in a few years. I also play flute, violin (well used to, anyway)
and I've just started taking pianolessons. Which is so much fun!

I hope to have a (modest) singing career in the future, a flourishing
teaching-studio and maybe.... just maybe... have my own opera company
someday... Hey! a girl can dream, can't she?

I've been a member of Vocalist for nearly three years now, but I discovered
Vocalist when there was still the .org site. Unfortunately, the list (or
rather: the archives) disappeared soon after my discovery. I rarely post;
when I do, I usually have a question I can't work out on my own. I love
reading all the discussions about technique, although I can't quite follow
them all.... But, I'll get there! And who knows, maybe I'll join the
discussion someday. Right now, I still feel too much of a novice to do so.
(Maybe joining in ís the best way to learn... hmmm.... I have to think abou
that...)

Well, that'll do for now!

Nande
