The key here is that because we understand what physiologically occurs on the inside, we can provide an exercise (done on the outside) that makes the process efficient and balanced.
A new student, or any student for that matter, does not need to know the intricate details of their vocal apparatus and it's workings in order to be successfull at singing. However, their teacher darn well better have this knowledge, or they run the risk of serious malpractice.
