The first phrase ("Summertime, and the livin' is easy") starts on the
fifth of the key and descends an octave. I believe that that is the
entire range of the song. At least it is the only way I've heard
anybody sing the melody. I'd be very interested in seeing evidence to
the contrary. Perhaps there was an introductory verse that you're
including in the range?
