Hi Naomi,

Thanks for your reply, I'll run with it and will let you know how it went.
I'd like to comment on a few things you said:

You wrote:
>Is it absolutely imperative that you sing on this number? Can you
>get someone else to cover for you? It's no great shame to admit that
>you're human and are not performing at your best and to try to make a

Comment:
In our rehearsal last monday we tried to
a. swich roles for a bit; I'd take the mezzo part and the mezzo took my
part. This didn't work; she was having problems on that note as well....
(made me feel slightly better) This particular bit in the duet is actually 2
solos; first the mezzo, then the soprano in an ascending line. so, we also
tried to:
b. sing the line together. That worked okay, we seemed to support eachother
and the note was fine. (quality of tone could be better, but hey, who's
complaining!) It's still an alternative, but not my fave one, since this was
not written like that......

You also wrote:
>Talk to your teacher in rehearsal and ask her for feedback about
>just how bad that G is. For all you know, it's not nearly as
>disastrous as you think.

Comment:
Well...... It is; not only I who was convinced, the accompanist and the
director whole-heartedly agreed.....

And finally, you wrote:
>Get your head together. Stop obsessing on the one phrase. Allow
>yourself twenty minutes each day to do all your worrying. Set a
>timer. Then, throughout the rest of the day, when you find yourself
>drifting back to that tension and fear, say to yourself firmly,
>"Thank you very much. We've already had this conversation. We'll
>worry again tomorrow at the appointed time."

Comment:
I love this! I'm the queen of obsessing!! I'll try this, hope it works. Do
you do this as well?? Have you known anyone to do this sucesfully?? Again: I
love the idea and will see where it takes me.

Thanks again!
Nande
