Tia, Sing whichever pieces you sing best. Don't worry about what repertoire or which languages impress auditioners. What impresses us is a singer with solid technique, musicality, good musicianship and good language skills who sings communicatively. If you sing 'Row, row, row your boat" better than anyone else in the world we'll like it much better than a Schubert song with diction which " isn't too bad."
What shows you at your best? What highlights your strengths? Dress professionally, know your translations word-for-word and sing those pieces. Cindy Donnell >Dear Vocalists: > My audition time is quickly creeping near.... I'm still undecided about what I'm going to sing. I had to sing An die Musik for my German diction class and I really do like the piece. Any thoughts on using this for admission to a university program or performing it in general? Thanks in advance.> >Tia P.S. Is it impressive to admissions panels when you present two pieces in a foreign language? (Assuming your diction isn't too bad)?>
