well put, lloyd. i would also add translations to the list of things
singers should learn to do for themselves, for several reasons. aside from
the obvious (they just should), working out a translation on one's own helps
the singer to begin to 'think' in that other language, a must for really
making the point of the text. in the long run, it is easier to do it
yourself rather than being constantly dependent on others.
