Oberlin is a great choice. It does not have graduate students, or very few,
those in MAT programs. There are plenty of performance opportunities for the
undergrads. The opera lab is great. And they (still???) have Richard Miller and
the high tech voice lab, as well as the other fine teachers, who are quite
accessible to students. It is competitive, but there is so much high quality
music going on all the time, you learn about as much from all the music you hear
as that you learn yourself. Every day there is at least one musical event, but
often several, and you have to make some hard choices.
