Some words about "big breaks."
1. In acting, between 50% and 90% comes from being in the right place at the
right time.

Example: Gillian Anderson was waiting tables at a restaurant when she was
cast by a diner to play the part of Scully in the X-files.

2. Unfortunately most "big breaks" are not wrought through talent and those
that are were earned through heaps of work in striving to be noticed.

Example: Elvis Presley had been roaming the country singing in every club
that would let him perform. One day he had called his mother from a club's
telephone booth to sing Happy Birthday to her. One of the people waiting to
use the phone heard him sing. He was an agent, a talent scout. The rest is
history.

3. If you are standing around waiting for that "big break" you'd better be
wearing a very comfortable pair of shoes.

'Nuff said,
