Hello everyone,
Over the last issues broached on the list, I do repeatedly read the term
"belting", beeing used, as it seems, with a somewhat disparaging twist. So,
I grasped, there would be "belters", people who "belt" when singing,
seemingly linked to the "musicals" genre ? But then again I have read
something like : So and so, "great belter", which, by contrast, sounded
rather flattering.
Forgive my ignorance, I know what a belt is, it suggests a waist-related
thing, yet could some good soul attempt to help me see daylight through all
that confusion ? Even if controversial, is belting a chartered singing
technique and how can I hear it (unless I have already come across it done
by a popular singer, unawares, but then by who ?)
