Do you mean "require" or "written"? ;-)

Rossini has quite a few written high Cs (ex. William Tell, but he didn't
expect full chest voice), but most high Cs in the opera rep are
"traditional" rather than notated. To get a real sense of those, you'll
have to listen to a lot of recordings. Written high Cs are rare.

Is the high note in La Boheme a C or Cb? I think Stravinsky has a
written high C# in Persephone (sic?). There's also that nasty high D in
Orff's Carmina Burana... What are some other "rude" tenor high notes
that were actually notated? Anyone?
