There is a wonderful book by Richard Boldrey, which might be a good place
to start. It describes voice types and contains a comprehensive list of
what roles are what fach, etc. The book is called "Guide to Operatic Roles
and Arias" and is widely available in the U.S. Not sure if it is available
in London but there's always the infernal amazon (sorry Lana).
