Try this:
Form your lips into a tight "o" or "oo" (the mouth should be fairly closed).
Place the tip of the tongue very lightly against the hard palate, just behind the upper teeth but not touching them. Keep the tongue as relaxed as you can (no tension at all beyond what is needed to keep the tip in place against the hard palate). You might feel the upper molars touching the top sides of the tongue.
Expel a hard breath through your lips.
If you do this "right", the tip of the tongue will vibrate in a kind of non-vocalised trill.
Repeat the above, this time vocalising when you expel the hard breath. It should sound like a kind of hum, but also a tongue trill (rolled r).
If this works, try the exercise again, this time changing notes as you vocalise and trill the tongue.
If this works, guess what? You've got it!
