| This sounds like it might be "Meeting Venus". Glenn Close starred as the opera singer. The opera company was doing a production of Tannhauser and the musicians are contemplating a strike. At one point the Glenn Close character gives a recital of Schumann's Du bist wie eine Blume. So maybe there is another movie with a somewhat similar plot out there where a singer does a Schubert song.
But in this film the soloist and the conductor are having an affair and sure enough, the conductor and his wife are in the audience when she sings her recital. It's a very contrived storyline and quite silly to see Glenn Close lip-sync to Kiri Te Kanawa, but she doesn't do a half-bad job.
This might not be the movie you are thinking of, but it's a definite possibility!

Perhaps you could help me, although in the spanish translation surely the meaning will change (always happens with films!). It think it was about a choir that decides to go on strike or something like that. There was also a conductor that falls in love with a soprano, but he is married. The soprano sings at a concert as a soloist and one of the songs is Schubert "Du bist die Ruh". She is very sad when she sings it, as the conductor is among the public with his wife. It is something like that. I would like to find this film in order my students can see it at school. Any help will be apreciated. > >Regards >Rut > ><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> ><HTML><HEAD> ><META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> ><META content="MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=GENERATOR> ><STYLE></STYLE> ></HEAD> ><BODY bgColor=#ffffff> ><DIV> </DIV> ><DIV> </DIV> ><DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Dear list;</FONT></DIV> ><DIV> </DIV> ><DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am trying to remeber the name of a film about >musicians.
