emily,
if one of your class' main considerations of the concerto is the use of sonata-allegro form, you are pretty much 'screwed' with regard to vocal works. i can think of no vocal work that uses the form (the only thing remotely close that i can think of is the overture to 'flying dutchman'). while i understand you would either like to take the oppurtunity to examine a vocal work thusly or, feel like you are not wasting time examining a piece you'll never use, for the sake of your grade, you will be better off looking at a concerto that more easily fits the form of a concerto rather than making an attempt to stretch the criteria for a concerto to fit some vocal piece with orchestra as, most vocal pieces with orchestra fit into some kind of extended song form.
