I used to sing "I know that my Redeemer Liveth". It's a bit much for some
situations, but was often requested by the family. Otherwise I usually
choose a fairly simple hymn.

SNIP....

Things I sing often:

Lord's Prayer
On Eagle's Wings
Be Not Afraid
Amazing Grace
Any setting of Psalm 23 (The Lord is my Shepherd)
In the Garden
Battle Hymn of the Republic (especially for a veteran)
How Great Thou Art
Ave Maria

And sometimes I get requests for the deceased's songs, which can be unusual,
but for some reason, even if they don't seem appropriate, they don't usually
bother me given the circumstances. These have included:

Somewhere, My Love
Look for the Silver Lining
Harbor Lights
