Hi John again,

The proper spelling is “niggun” I’m using as a reference “Judaism for
Dummies” written by a Rabbi here in Seattle who runs a meditational
synagogue.

On page 336 he writes. (Rabbi Ted Falcon and David Blatner)

… “Jewish liturgical music has also been greatly influenced by people
like….Shlomo Carlebach, David Zeller and the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, and
Zalm an Shacter-Shalomi… who revitalized the use of song and “niggun”
(wordless melodies that use syllables like “dai, dai, dai; bai, lai,
lai, bai” and so on)…
