I must agree with Lisa here - I try to bring my pianist along when I can as well, although it is not always possible. And a good pianist is truely something wonderful - like a gift from heaven! I try hard not to take mine for granted, especially since we have worked together for a long time now.
Which brings me to another question, just off hand - how do most singers pay their pianists? that is, 1) how do they afford the really good ones, and 2) do they charge by hour or by gig? Just curious. I know what I do here, but i'm wondering if things are different in other parts of the world or even North America.
