I have started learning Russian with the Rosetta Stone course, a program I
purchased online. You can either buy the online version or the CD - I bought
the CD because you don't have to log on to work on it. It works with visual
(pictures and print) and auditory (native speakers) input. You can also
record yourself and compare your pronunciation with the native speakers, and
you can take written exercises. It's expensive (about $200US), but it really
seems to work well for me. Log onto www.rosettastone.com. They have many
languages, including French.
