you might be right about what creates the vacuum. the expelling of air sets up the potential for a vacuum but, it isn't until the muscles used to expel the air, are released that the vacuum actually occurs. now, it puzzles me as to what the role of the diaphragm is in such an action and perhaps, as i absolutely cannot figure it out just by feeling it, that further points to the notion that breathing should be left reflexive and that any effort to manually override the process, will only interfere with efficient breathing, making it foolish to attempt to do so.
