as in depth as you have gotten about the imagery you use, i still have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. what i find most confusing about your imagery is that it seems so vague, it could apply to almost anything. in other words, there is nothing about it that seems to connect it to singing except that you have stated it in connection with singing. this is what i call the 'horoscope' approach. even imagery that does seem more literally connected with singing, can cause problems as, a student, having performed the desired task, might view the same singing with entirely different imagery.
however, as i have found that using a student's imagery, that they themselves come up with, to lead them out of the quagmire, effective, i can't really say that i object to its use, even if it is of the 'horoscope' variety. but, this seems to me to be a position of disadvantage; having to use something that is vague and dim because that's all they have.
