i will teach anyone singing any style which, requires me to be
flexible. some people have no music education, some people have more than
they need, some people have great instincts while with others, all they know
of life is an educated guess. so yes, i believe in being flexible. it is
a requirement in teaching but, i don't believe in the 'horoscope' approach
especially, if the straightforward way just isn't that hard (can you imagine
teaching driver's ed. and telling a student to "imagine the car moving
forward, its engine rumbling proudly" when "put your damn foot on the gas,
fool" will do?).

the problem with the 'horoscope' approach is that it wastes so much
creative energy, on running the machine, that could be used for enlightening
the performance. this is particularly true of the more speech oriented
genres of music where most people who sing the stuff, already know how to
talk. but, if the 'horoscope' approach is for you, more power to you.
