I wa talking about singing. Other people started talking about Bocelli's blindness. I could have interpreted that as if people meant to say blind people can't have musical talent and depend on other people's pity to be successful.
But I didn't make such a stupid interpretation because I can read, and reading DOES NOT MEAN reacting to WORDS, as single words, ANY LINGUIST KNOWS THAT, are meaningless. And then Mark says he's not PC! hahaha
What I said of Bocelli's blindness and the 3 Tenors' appearance was secondary, as my point was that they were successful regardless of whatever reaction to their appearance, age, etc, etc. Only semi-illiterate people who react to words because they can't understand sentences and paragraphs could react negatively to what I said.
As I said, CONTINUOUS references to Bocelli's blindness and even to his "latinhood", by Richard, to justify his success did not hurt anyone's feelings, as they were against someone most people here disaprove of. Of course, as my arguments demonstrated that explanation was weak and as it means to many people that they can't belittle Bocelli's talent anymore by using those artifices, it's better to nitpickly single out words from my text so that they don't have to face the fact that people seem to prefer Bocelli's "lack of talent" to the result they have achieved through years of dedication.
I won't waste my time discussing with those egos anymore.

First off, Lea Ann and Mark, thanks for having your say on this. I am tired of this thread and appalled by the language used by some members (one member?) to express themselves on this issue. As for the above quote, Lea Ann, I think there is something further to this than not saying it just out of respect. I would bet money that it wouldn't even occur to you to refer to her (or anyone else for that matter) in that manner no matter how she looked, because like many of us, it just never enters your thinking to be that small minded, petty or nasty about other human beings.
How about we get back to discussing singing, people, instead of being vicious about those who have a career? It all begins to look like jealousy, "sour grapes" and "Tall Poppy Syndrome" after a while and it is not very pretty. Live and let live.
