I returned from my vacation on Monday night, opened my snail mail, and found that I have been accepted to the NATS Intern Program. For those of you who aren't familiar with this program, twelve voice teachers with less than five years full-time experience are accepted (based on audiotapes, recommendations, resume and letter of application) to work with four master teachers for 10 days. The four teachers are Shirlee Emmons (whose book, POWER PERFORMANCE FOR SINGERS, I just read during my vacation!!), George Shirley, Carol Webber and Paul Kiesgen. It will be held at Ithaca College this June.
I'm very excited. Also, my performance as soloist in the Debussy "La Damoiselle Elue" was very well received and reviewed in the Wisconsin Light (a L/G/B/T newspaper). I haven't seen the review yet - it was published in what is turning out to be the LAST issue of the paper and someone is supposed to send it to me. But I've been told that there's quotable stuff in it... I'll pass it along when I get it!!
