Breaking through the murk of lurk,[wuuuu! sounds like Tolkien!]...
I like the Beatles.
They were (are) fun. They are sensitive emotionally. They touch on thought-provoking topics--sometimes of a universal nature. They use German 6th chords. They had excellent ears and thus ideas for songs. They were creative, even without major learning.
Their simplicity was complex, the way Berlin's "Always" is.
Their songs are compositions in a short format--except "Hey Jude"--in a way that Ellington was a composer, limited by the single side of a 78rpm.
I am not comparing, just observing.
