If the darkness is natural - not "manufactured" by too-far-back placement
or an overly lowered larynx - why would you want to brighten it? The
best singers always sing with their "true voices" - not with some kind of
artificially modified voice that will never sound as good as the voice
with which the Creator endowed them.

My advice is to make sure you are not doing anything technically wrong to
create artifical darkness (e.g., "covering"). If you are singing
technically correctly, then learn to love the voice you've got: there's a
huge audience out there for "chocolately" voices in all fachs; you're
blessed.
