Dear Laura,
I also sing the word "Jesus" in Ave Maria as Jesu /yesu/. So, I think
that's why your director said no final 's' in the word. Also, about the
word "una voce" which could be an Italian word, I pronounce it as /una
vo-tSe/. I hope this helps though.
