Hi Lea Ann.

I think you've answered your own question. Yes, seek
the help of another voice teacher by all means if
you're not happy.

So far the things your teacher has said are in point
of fact, rubbish. Sorry to be so brusque, but that's
the truth!

Vibrato doesn't come from the gut. Indeed, it's a term
I don't like at all. Vibrato is an effect. All voices
vibrate with a nice pulse if they're working
correctly. Voices that are straight in tone aren't.
Simple as that, and no professional singer can hope to
have a career droning!!

I've nothing more to add. If you've been struggling
with exercises, perhaps you are not the voice type you
thought? I don't know. It's difficult without hearing
people!!

Sorry, I can't say anything more at the moment that's
very useful!!
