How about "You'll Never Walk Alone"? It's certainly on my list of overdone
songs, but I think it's really appropriate right now and it's certainly
inspirational. And it's a great range for a mezzo with a strong top.

Subject: [vocalist] got the gig, now what do I sing?

Hello All -

I've recently been engaged to perform for a large (1000+) association
meeting in San Francisco. The mayor of SF is going to be there, so
it's a pretty visible gig. They want me to sing the National Anthem,
then another patriotic song like God Bless America or America the
Beautiful. Then they want me to choose a third, "inspirational"
song.

The only thing I'm finding for "inspirational" songs is Christian
religious music, which I don't think would be appropriate for this
setting. Would any of you have a recommendations for an
inspirational, not particularly religious song for mezzo with string
quartet? My audience is older and quite conservative.

Thanks so much!
Karena
