| One of my favorite quotes, and that which of course gives me more pause than I'd perhaps like is from Buddha: "Do not compare your Self with others, for you may become vain or bitter." It's hard to let go of the internal competition, but I have found it is mainly a mindset. And can therefore be changed. There's no sense wasting one's energy on what was, or what could have been. All those choices brought us to the present moment, and that is the only place in which something can be done so why not simply learn to enjoy what we have? Here. Now. You can't be here if you focus your thoughts "over there." I do believe every life has a purpose, one which is not always readily obvious. But if we are doing our best, then why worry? Like Karen, I also believe in reincarnation, and have often said that my love of music yet lack of its focused pursuit in this life is simply preparation to be a diva (in the best sense of the word) in my next life.
