I like Karen's advice - keep it short, something that you will be 100% confident with and that shows your voice to its best advantage. They look for two things in opera chorus - how your voice sounds (quality and size) and whether you fit the costumes they already have! (I'm semi-joking!)
Also, since you're interested in exploring opera, I encourage you to sign up for an opera workshop or an opera scenes class. It's a good way to get your feet wet, learn some repertpoire and what works for your voice, and get to know some other singers and teachers/coaches. And the auditions themselves might be a good opportunity to network. For example, the person who accompanies the audition might be a vocal coach you can work with in preparing for a future audition.
Good luck! And let us know how how it goes for you.
