Subject:  Re: musical theatre credits for opera singers

My advice, as a musical theatre teacher, is to definitely go for it. The
musical theatre genre encompasses such a wide variety of musical and dance
styles as well as concepts moving far from the traditional "classic"
musicals, so you will get lots of wonderful, performing experience. So many
shows demand solid technique that your training for opera will still be
quite useful (think Phantom's Carlotta for example).
Operas are musicals anyway...still singing/dancing/acting...just from a
different slant and in a different style.
Have a great time...diversity is the key to success these days.
