Subject:  Re: [vocalist] teacher's conduct

A friend of mine has encountered a parallel situation. She is a voice
teacher who sent a student on to a colleague at a nearby university. There
were some misunderstandings over comments made by the new teacher. At any
rate, the student got herself ejected from the studio by expressing her
discomfort over the new teacher's remarks against the old teacher
(apparently). There was lots of crying and hard feelings. There was also
plenty of well poisoning being done by the angry new ex-teacher after it
all blew up. Long-story-short: kids have got to be prepared for the
academic world. There are times when you are not in power. There are
times when you shut your mouth and hang on until you can get an available
out. This is how the world works for those of us who earn a living. It is
not too early to learn that in college. If a student believes that she can
no longer function in that university, it is time to rethink all of it: the
academic goal, where it is to be achieved, and how music figures into her
life.

Often there are idiots teaching voice who are egocentric, half informed,
and socially inappropriate. They need counseling, but, instead they get
voice students.

Good luck to your B's student.
