I’ve started a new egroup mailing list for discussion of the oft beloved, occasionally maligned coloratura soprano. If you are a "canary fancier" (or a "canary" yourself) you are invited to particpate using this url. http://www.egroups.com/group/coloratura
The egroups service offers some interesting member options beyond just posting messages; it acts like a website where members can post links, post short database lists (Mozart's K.418 discography, for example), poll members (top 5 cadenzas on record: go) and maintain a group calendar of events. There is a privacy policy, as well.
I foresee friendly discourse on favorite and obscure arias, great high E-flats, ornamentation & embellishment practices, new CD’s, old records, great high F’s, famous and infamous nightingales from the past, stratospherically inclined divas currently warbling their way across the opera and concert stages and studios of the world, performance traditions, great high F#’s, interpolations, technique, trills, runs and roulades, dollbellshadowlaughing songs, great high G’s, etc. etc.
I can guarantee there will be no discussion of Bergonzi.
