Bringing head voice down to where it should be chest voice or almost all chest voice will produce a wobble. Vibrato is the result of a relaxing agent within a contraction; there is just no the right amount or type of tension at that point to produce a more desirable rate of oscillation when head voice is brought down to low. You're asking the cricothyroid muscles to regulate pitch in an area where they are designed not to do so. It's like driving a car in the wrong gear.
Looking at your last statement about Chihuahuas is interesting. If lolipopstar can't get out of chest without a break, that doesn't mean all females can't get out of chest without a break. A female is totally capable in singing in chest up to a4 and then getting out of it without a break, and believe it or not the head voice is better in these instances.
