I can answer this. Notice that even a very high tenor can only sing
up to about E5. This is because by pushing the chest so high, he
severely limits his "falsetto" capacity at the very top. "Classical"
women and countertenors switch to the lighter registration much
earlier (circa middle D), allowing for a smooth transition.

It is very difficult to make the transition above an F above middle
C, because by then, the chest voice has so much brilliance to it that
it is hard to manipulate the head voice to match it on the notes
directly above. If I use a lot of chestiness into my sound, I top out
at about a D5. If I keep the emphasis on a headier sound, I have more
than a fifth above that.

The basic rule is, the higher my change, the lower my top.

Mind you, I don't think it's *unhealthy* for women to sing high in
their chest voices... it's only unhealthy if they intend to have the
high notes required for classical music. If their intention is to
stick to chest voice singing (a la Whitney Houston), they're fine.
