either i did not explain myself well enough or, you have misunderstood me. i'm sure you will agree that there is more than one type of music that can be sung succesfully in a healthy manner. and there are many classically trained teachers who would agree. however, there is a large faction of classical teachers who think that the classical approach is the only way. included in this group are those who think every metal singer who can sing high, is a tenor. if 'bluesinger's' teacher is one of them, and he/she has already labeled him a baritone, it is unlikely that this particular teacher is open to the possibility of him singing how and what he wants to. i did mean to imply that, if this is the case, he should look elsewhere for a teacher who does have an interest in seeing if it is possible for him to do what he wants. someone like seth riggs is far more likely to be open to all this fellow's possibilities than a teacher with a very narrow idea of what a singer is capable of.
