from a practical standpoint, if you already know how to teach yourself
your music, including rhythm, pitches, language etc., you would be wasting
your own time with your teacher if you wait for her to teach you these
things. what you need from your teacher is to find out how to do the things
you don't already know how to do. if this requires you to prepare your
music in advance, it just makes sense that you should. even if you prepare
something incorrectly (as an earnest mistake), you'll be better able to make
a correction having the frame of reference preperation gives you.
