Several years ago, I saw at the Opera Theater of Northern Virginia a
performance of an opera, I think it was by Libby Larsen, "A Wrinkle in Time",
based on the famous children's book. I recall several female characters with
arias, including the young female protagonist, sung by a young-looking adult
soprano. It might be worth checking out.
