Also look at 13 Songs by Hoiby. There are at least 2
I can think of on William Blake poetry that will have
the qualities you described. "Where the music comes
from", from the same collection, is always a real
crowd pleaser.

How about some Paul Hundley? One piece in particular,
called "Come ready and see me", is also very
"accessible".

Also, I think the Hoiby piece about the snake is
titled "The Serpent". It is indeed very funny and fun
to sing. There is a lot of fun stuff for the pianist
as well in this one.

Also, I think all of the folk songs arranged by Roger
Quilter are simply lovely.
