Which raises the question -- how DOES one break into a local music scene? I've
encountered this everywhere I've lived: there's always an "A-list" of
performers one sees in every single show. Is the crow you know inherently
preferable to the nightingale you don't?

I'd be interested to hear any "success stories" from listers who have overcome
this phenomenon. Any advice for the rest of us... (besides "be a tenor" ;-)?
