Subject:  Teaching space

Does anyone have suggestions on how to go about finding studio space for
teaching? I currently teach at a small music school that is only open
in the evenings. There are just three keyboards and as most of the
students are pianists, I'm very limited in the times I can use the
keyboards for teaching voice! I live in a townhouse/apartment complex
so teaching at home is out of the question. Ideally, I'm looking for a
secure place where I can keep my library and not have to carry it with
me to lessons. The churches and community centres around here do not
have rooms that are consistently available, and the schools (elementary
and secondary) also have problems with security and availability. The
music stores that offer lessons aren't taking on new instructors and the
continuing education programs offered through the school boards and
colleges are sporadic at best. There is no shortage of potential
students in the area. My conducting colleagues and other teachers keep
referring new people to me, and the high schools in the area have very
active music departments. What I'm searching for is something that is
soundproof enough not to disturb the neighbours (residential or
commercial), secure and accessible. I'd be grateful for any input
regarding where to search, pitfalls to avoid or any other ideas you
might have based on your own experience.
