What a terribly difficult decision to make. If I restrict to beautiful
songs (my favourites are not necessarily what I would class as
beautiful), then a few would be:

Britten - My parents died (from St. Nicholas)
Poulenc - Bleuet
Poulenc - Sanglots
Barber - Dover Beach
Gurney - In Flanders
Vaughan Williams - In Dreams (from Songs of Travel)
Britten - Sonnet (from Serenade)

I've missed out loads. You may guess from this that I have a huge
missing chunk from my repertoire, in that I am terribly deficient in my
knowledge of Lieder. I am really concentrating on languages I can
(almost) speak, and German is not even close.
