Hello all,
Sorry about this long ranting "off topic" thing, though it occurs to me that health and the attendant "bigger" issues are truly relevant to us whose interconnected, interdependent bodies, spirits and minds are our instruments...
Thank you so much to James and Judy for your responses. I certainly concur with James that I will endeavour to do what I have to do for my health... From my own experiences and observations of so many others, this is all too often "easier said than done"... Not to necessarily "blow my own horn", but I write these words as a singer who just raised $1400, doing a benefit concert for relatives involved in a kidney transplant, $1400 which barely begins to meet all the expenses involved, very little of which is actually covered by any medical insurance, government or private... As I mentioned in my original post, there are "bigger issues" here, i.e., universal access to health care that is truly universal, that recognizes that the true meaning of health/healing is "to make whole". In my worldview, a fully functioning human is an integrated spiritbodymind with myriad diverse functions, rather as is the universe as we know it, but as I love to say, "That's another story..." :o)
The "Exploding Head Syndrome", previously described by Judy sounds interesting, but I don't think I fit those symptoms... interesting imagery suggested by the name...:o)
A couple other things about my situation have occurred to me. For some time now, I have been battling an "Abscess from Hell" in one of my teeth. After consulting with a dentist, an endodontist and my G.P, I considered a root canal, but was advised that root canals can have eventual toxic consequences, so I am now about to get an extraction and hopefully eventually a bridge - "That will be another $2000, please - ka-ching ka-ching..." I'm really trying not to get too "off topic" into "other stories", as it were, but... Isn't it weird that there is "medical" health, then there is "dental" health, with all the hoops through which one is expected to jump - varying insurance schemes, waiting periods, etc. - as though teeth, and for that matter, eyes, are not considered by corporate governments, insurance plans, etc. to be fully interdependent parts of functional humans...? There is this whole corporate concept of health as a "commodity" to be sold in the best interest of shareholders, so alien to me, versus health as a fundamental universal human right... My new holistic G.P. mentioned that my ear pain as well as many other longstanding challenges I face may be some result of interconnectedness with my dental abscess (including the havoc wreaked on my body by three courses of antibiotics...), as well as deep seated mercury contamination from old leaking amalgam fillings... or maybe it is a tumour or some weird combination...
I live in a psychotic consuming culture that spends $.25 billion to watch some dude play baseball, billions on polluting Sport Utility Cars and all their toxic infrastructure, Corporate America elects an oil man who would spend billions more on drilling more oil to feed the SUCs - while our leading scientists tell us our planet is critically ill with human-caused global warming and myriad other global pathologies ... aaak... rant rant rant...
Meanwhile, I cannot access a little medical tool that costs maybe just a couple million or so, that might help to save my health/my life...? Hello...?
To the tune of "Bein' Green": "It's not that easy being a green eccentric introvert with a loud voice..."
To our health...
Michael
